Hydraulic
Tool Catcher is a
safety device normally placed on top of the upper Lubricator just below the
Stuffing Box or Grease Injection Head (GIH). This tool is designed with an
internal dog that catch the rope socket and prevent toolstring from falling
downhole in the situation that the toolstring got caught up between Lubricator
and Stuffing Box or GIH thereby forcing wireline out of the rope socket.
